2006 THE PLAY Cabernet Sauvignon |
||||||||||||||||||||
The PLAY is dark ruby in color. The wine has a very concentrated nose of vibrant dried cherry, raspberry, cassis and a hint of savory herbs. The mouth is rich, well-structured and reflects the flavors on the nose. This powerful yet elegant wine is very balanced and is drinkable now, but will age gracefully.
The 85th game in the history of Stanford versus California rivalry was played at Memorial Stadium on November 20, 1982. It was the game that forever has been linked to history because of THE PLAY, when the Cal Bears scored the winning touchdown on a five-lateral kickoff return that ended with the Stanford band already on the field. Joe Kapp, head coach of the Cal Bears in 1982 and long-time friend Bob Rinehart have created Cal-Pals - a partnership to benefit their favorite charities. Kapp's unparralleled life experience and special human perspective along with Rinehart's commitment to community and giving back is the driving force behind this wine release.
